Hi,

I have just set up and installed the OS Commerce shop, although installation was successful I received the following error messages:

Warning: fopen(/home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/includes/configure.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 209

Warning: fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 210

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 211

The configuration was successful!

And now when I try to access the catalog I get the error messages:

Warning: main(includes/application_top.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/index.php on line 13

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/carehomes/35SI3442/htdocs/catalog/index.php on line 13

Line 13 contains the following:

require('includes/application_top.php');

Any help greatly appreciated - no ideas on php at all!!

I have had a look and the permissions are wrong.

start with the application_top.php as Judd said.

Then post both your configure.php files but with the database info xxx for password etc.

Ok - have checked both configure files - both seem to be fine (dont really know what I am looking for) - but password info, database name etc seem to be ok.

Have changed permissions on application_top to both 777 and 755 - currently on 777 - but am still getting the same error message.

Sorry to be a pain - and thanks for your time and effort!! ;)

What permissions are set for the catalog folder and if you don't know what you are looking for how do you know that things are fine?

I've just been into your admin file manager and if you select catalog/includes folder you get an error permission denied.

As you are on the very early stages maybe you chould try install again

Permission for catalog folder: 755

I dont know that things are fine - database name, password, username etc fields contain the correct information to connect to the database. Thats all I can tell you really. Hence me using the phrase 'seem' - things 'seem' to be fine - but with my limited knowledge I could well be wrong!!
