Whats wrong with my store in search engines?

Hello everybody,

 

I am almost ready with my store, and wanted to test it for indexing with search engines. I used the spider simulator found at:

As you can see the spider seems to add an extra "/shop" ! This leads to a 404 error (ie page not found) e.g.

Why is this happening and what can be done about it. It does not happen to any other stores on OSC (well none that I have tested).

 

I still do not completely understand about Search Engine submissions - though I am really only going to use google. So I want to optimise for it.

 

I have read many forum pages about google, SID Killers, robot txt files, meta tags etc and have tried to take the following action:

 

I have added an ALL PRODUCTS PAGE, LINDA's HEADER TAGS, DYNAMIC HEADER TAGS & HTML TITLES.

 

I also tried to turn SEF URLS to true, but then my categories links gave 404 page not found errors. I have also set SPIDER KILLER to true.

 

So what have I done wrong? I am tempted to purchase Burts guide on Search engine ranking improvment - but I first need to get ranked and on the search engines! I do not think I will if all the links fail!

 

Any help appreciated.
