rerbe
I am running an existing shopping cart (not os commerce) using .htpasswd for the security, I am now setting up an oscommerse cart. Is their anyway I can transfer these customers without them having to re-register. This will be a one off process. I have their existing registration information in an Excel file. I have checked the forums and contributions and the only way I can find will actually generate a new password which I do not want to do. I have modified my cart already with many of the other contributions so it will be difficult to install one of the contributions without major modification. Please can anyone help Thanks The solution is never too far away ...
Guest
you can do so utilizing ODBC to connect to the database, however you will need to learn quite a bit about the database. I do not know how comfortable you are with this informaiton. As far as the password, you are probably better off putting something generic in there, as I do not know how you have your current passwords in the excel file, the format. That way, the customer can go to the store, attempt login and then click on 'I forgot password' and they will get a new one. Downside? if they dont remember the email address they signed up with. So with all that in mind, you may want to email all your current customers and let them have a 'sneak preview' of the new store and have them register! solves a lot there and lets them know there are bigger and better things to come! rerbe
Thanks for the reply, It looks as if I will have to input the data off-line and re-install the database as I do not want all of my customers to be emailed untill all of the data has been input. I am not sure about the ODBC method as I am not too confident at the moment. Thanks again The solution is never too far away ...
