Easypopulate 2.73 parse error

Hi folks, I have been trying to install the latest version of easypopulate (2.73) I am running osc2.2m2. I think I followed the install instructions correctly but may have done something wrong (I am relatively new here) after the install I go to my admin section and click on easypopulate and then I receive the following error:-

 

Parse error: parse error in /usr/local/4admin/apache/vhosts/swcomputers.com.au/httpdocs/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1248

if ($replace_quotes){

$items[$i] = str_replace('\"',""",$items[$i]);

$items[$i] = str_replace("\'","'",$items[$i]);

}

} else { // no magic_quotes are on

 

the first line ($items etc. is actually line 1248)

 

any help is much appreciated I am not actually trying to enhance the easypopulate.php file so it is stock appart from the necessary configuration changes. If I have missed anything and you need more info please don't hesitate to contact me.
