Free shipping on certain products only

Hi list,

Is there a way to specify free shipping only on certain products? Three possible options for a customer:

1. product that includes free shipping (a subscription to a magazine for instance)

2. regular product that does include shipping

3. mixed: some items that require shipping and others that don't, but the customer will pay for the shipping for the products that require it.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you :)

Hi Julie,

Thank you for the reply. Are you suggesting that I only use Zone shipping? Right now I'm using USPS and UPS.

Also, I tried using Zone shipping. I set my product to 0 weight and my tare weight in Configuration/Shipping Packaging to 0 as well. Whenever I try to checkout, I still get a weight of .1 lbs, which then charges $8.50 (what I set) for shipping. I can't seem to get the weight to be 0.

Any ideas?

Thanks again.

OK - there is a module called Free Shipping which I tried to find separately but could only find packaged up with the downloads controller

I use it for my downloadable goods and basically it is a separate payment module which kicks in when the total weight of the goods is 0. So you would set the weight of your free shipping items to 0 and when it came to the shipping page, if that was all that was ordered, only the free shipping module would show as a shipping option.

If you had goods with a weight, then they would be tallied as normal along with the others. I don't know how the UPS module works - I adapted the zones module for Royal mail postal rates, which all go by weight.

You would need to separate out the free shipping bits from the downloads controller but I don't think that would be too hard.
