Messed up shipping modules

I need some help here. I managed to screw up the shippng modules in os2.2 I tried to copy fresh files from another virgin installation but it seemed to make it worse. How can I fix this? and if I can.... Can I re-install the OS over the present one without loosing all my information

what modules had you been modifying or adding? any contributions dealing with shipping? best thing to do is make a backup, then delete shipping in os2 and retry. it could have also done something to the database, if you added things there. when is the last time it was working? do you have a backup of then? i recommend to everyone i deal with, to have two sites, one a live store where customers can still go, another with a separate database which has the mod (yes, i said mod) you are trying to get working. only do one at a time and then test and test and test. once it works to your satisfaction, it becomes your live store by copying to the now going to be old one (after you back it up and have imported all the new data you may not have) and away you go. you now have an updated store working, along with an updated development site to add the next contribution.

First let me apologize for taking so long to respond.

 

You're right ... one should always back up. I did and when I tried to upload the backup from the server, well what can I say.... It didn't work well. Anyway... It's a good thing that this is an all new store, so by deleting the entire shop I didn't lose much. Now I have it working very well, except the UPS mod. What is the best UPS MOD in contributions?

 

Also... Is there an install manual online somewhere or in hard cover that will give me the proper paths of the files that I can edit?

 

I could have shot right by it..... But I didn't see any.
