Can't find SQL file

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I have tried and tried to get this working but can't. Here is the error I get;

New Installation

Database Import

The following error has occurred:

SQL file does not exist: /install/oscommerce.sql

if I upload the Database to my SQL first and UNCHECK "Import Catalog Database" at the start of the install everything goes fine, until I try and go to Catalog it just takes me back to start the install again, if I click on Admin. then I get this error;

1046 - No Database Selected

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

[TEP STOP]

But I selected a Data base, in Step=5, and I know the osc info is there..

Please please help, I have tried for two day and can't get this figured out...

Thanks

Mike

P.S. I put a server on my local computer, that is where I am having this problem.

This is the address to my store.

http://localhost/oscom/catalog/

I have Apache, MySQL and PHP all installed and working fine. I am useing Foxserv to do this. If I need to use a diferent local server, I am open to that, all I want to do is be able to modify pages locally before I go live with them...

Any suggestions or corrections would be great.. you can email me at [email protected]

Thanks Again

can you use phpmyadmin or mysql connector to talk with mysql? can you go to the command prompt and get into mysql? did you specify to use localhost as the path? lots more involved than what you discuss.

If you have uploades the sql to the database manually then the configure.php files will probably not have the information for the database. You could manually type this information in the configure.php files.

The database server name

password etc.

If deposit does not fit one of the slots provided then you are asking too much! :P

Is your Osc dated try Phoenix  raising oscommerce from the ashes.

I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, but did you first create a database in phpMyAdmin (i.e. spud_mydatabase), and THEN run the installation? Ensure that you have the proper server name down (usually localhost) and then click import database. That should fill in the (for example) spud_database with all the necessary tables for you. :ph34r:

Thank you everyone for you help... I will try and reply to each one here;

First John;

Yes I can use pphMyAmin and I have uploaded the sql file to "test" and given permission to me and root, and anyother user I can.. hopeing that it was a permission problem.. but I don't think so.

As far as specifying localhost as the path, no, I haven't seen where to do that. I will look as soon as I finish the post.

Thanks John

Now Steve;

ok about the configure.php..

Could you please tell me what to look for to find where that should be, if I isn't changed then what is in there by default???

Thanks Steve. I will check that out also.

Now Jon;

correct, I did create the database and username w/password, and it accepts it on Step=2 and on Step 2 it shows it, as says that is is going to upload it, then when it goes to Step=3 it says that it isn't there...

I am using localhost.

Thanks Jon.

A little more background, I have my store on the web working fine, it is on my local server that I am having this problem.. for some reason it doesn't have the path correct to the install folder, I have put in an absolute path to the install/oscommerce.sql and that didn't work either, same thing, file that there..

Thanks for all your help, I really need to get this going...

First I want to say Thanks for everyones help, and suggestions!!

I/we solved the problem, let me explain;

First I installed "FoxServ" on my XP Professional OS, this gave me (with one install) Apache, MySQL, PHP, and phpMyAdmin. The install worked ok, but getting the permissions right on my local computer to satisfy osCommerce wasn't..

At this point I will say that what was causing the errors was the permission for folders, and MySQL...

I now installed IIS, from my Windows XP CD, and downloaded the PHP windows installer, and the MySQL installer, and the phpMyAdmin windows installer... Now with these it is easy to set permission and to work offline and see instant changes to know what is changing what..

Sorry that I had to ask such simple questions, but since I have never worked with scripting before, I assumed that it had something to do with the code... not with permission..

Again thanks so much for your help, and I know I will be needing it again as now I will be changing code to give my site the look and feel I want...

Mike :D :D :D
