adding 'invoice paid' in invoice.php

I'd like to be able to print in the invoice wether the order has been paid for or not.

 

I a wait for payment before I ship, so I can use the Order Status to tell me if the customer has paid, ie if I've shipped, then the customer must have paid.

 

eg:

If status = dispatched then print "Invoice Paid"

else print "Invoice due"

 

Or is there a better way of doing this?
