Guest
;) Hi there, I have just recenlty downloaded os commerce, but have not figured out how to change the intro text that is displayed. (This is a default setup of the osCommerce project, products shown are for demonstrational purposes, any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional. If you wish to download the solution powering this shop, or if you wish to contribute to the osCommerce project, please visit the support site of osCommerce. This shop is running on osCommerce version osCommerce 2.2-MS1. The text shown here can be modified in the following file, on each language basis: [path to catalog]/includes/languages/[language]/default.php. That can be edited manually, or via the Administration Tool with the Languages->[language]->Define option, or by using the Tools->File Manager feature.) Can anyone out there help me out on this one!!!! ???? B)
Guest
You can go to the following via the admin tool - file manager console [path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php Just make sure you change the content inside: define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...'); This is the method I used. Hope it helps you :D

1quicksi
The admin console is convinient but you really should use a FTP or SSH program to manage your files. knowledge base | Contributions | Search

OceanRanch
This shop is running on osCommerce version osCommerce 2.2-MS1. Why wouldn't you have installed osCommerce 2.2-MS2 instead of MS1? HTH Tom

Hollice
You can go to the following via the admin tool - file manager console [path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php Just make sure you change the content inside: define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...'); I need help again. I tried what you wrote, but it didn?t work. I keep on getting ?TEXT MAIN? errors; line number varies. I even added to the original text to see if it shows up, nope, just an error. Guest
make sure you put the text you want to have displayed in between the 'This is ....' area and you are fine. careful of using apostrophe's as you will need to precede them with a '\' to have them display properly
Hollice
John, Thank you! I have it working this time. I was doing what you suggested, but I was using the Administration Tools online. This time I did it through HomeSite, with the text being very colorful, it was helpful. I?ll edit in HomeSite; upload with CuteFTP from now on! BTW, I do have HTML knowledge and I?m new to PHP, do you have any books you would recommend? Hollice p.s. Thank you for the tip. careful of using apostrophe's as you will need to precede them with a '\' to have them display properly
Guest
Hi Barney I'm having a similar problem to you. Would be grateful if you could quickly help me... On your index page, does it read "What's new here? ... This is a default setup of the osCommerce project..." or "What's new here? ... This is a demonstration online-shop..." ? Thanks in advance
