Guest
hello, we are running into a problem when filling orders. some of our customers are friends and want to give us cash instead of the option of credit cards or check/money order. friends of the company can go ahead and fill in the order via osc, but that means they will be charged with shipping, but we are not shipping the product out because we are giving it to them by hand. we want them to go through osc so we can keep track of stock all in one place. is there a way to get around this? thanks. Christian Lescuyer
Modify the shipping module so it sets the shipping to 0 for friends? Christian Lescuyer
Guest
that might work, but it seems that i would have to find out a way to let osc know what a "friend" is so i don't have to manually change it to 0. thanks.

christlabs
If you have the contribution Credit Class & Gift Voucher http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,282 Just make a coupon that gives free shipping and they can also select Check/Money Order for the payment type. I have an order editor also installed so I can go in an update orders - to show they will pay in cash - just erase the line that says Check/Money Order and type in Cash on the line. Guest
um christlabs that sounds like an idea which order editor are u using. i think i like that idea better because i assume that in invoice that the friend will still see the shipping fee and that might confuse things. but allowing them to go through the osc checkout process and then subtract the shipping fee sounds cool and mibble i really don't want options for others to have pick up in the check out because then people that we don't know might expect this service and we can't do it for everyone. thanks for the help. and if anyone else has other ideas please let me know. radders
Yes you can remove the shipping fee. It is very flexible. i don't know what I'd do without it!

dooka
radders, does this allow you to remove the shipping fee only for certain products? i don't want to charge shipping on some items (like magazine subscriptions), but i do want to charge shipping on everything else. would this contribution help me out? thank you kindly! radders
It alows you to edit an individual order. Shipping is just one amount. You can type whatever you want in there in place of the calculated shipping cost. Only really worthwhile with small volumes of exception items.
