Guest
Hey people, While submitting my to a few search engines I have just read a policy which states; 'Sites that use redirects or any type of bait-and-switch practice. Using frames to hide a real URL, commonly referred to as "poor man's cloaking," is also considered spam.' When I type in www.interactive-plus.com I notice that the URL changes to 'http://www.interactive-plus.com/catalog/index.php' Would this be considered as redirection? Any help on this topic would be great! Thanks :)
Guest
it all depends upon who interprets the rule. whoever has interactive-plus should or could just move the site up one level (ie get rid of catalog) which would move everything up one level and then there is no problem. MattMallory
Yes, going from www.interactive-plus.com to http://www.interactive-plus.com/catalog/index.php is considered a redirect! It is not the www. the http:// or the http://www. it is the actual directory that you are being sent to. IE: index.html to catalog/index.php is a redirect. Plain & simple, if you TRULY CAN NOT move your OSC to the root the BEST way to make it adhere to search engines is to make a splash page in the root that MAKES your visitors click a link to enter the OSC. You can also put hyper links on that splash page to categories within your OSC. This will also help you in SE placement ranking. Knowledge is Power!
