CLKeenan
It isn't completely done yet, still haven't added some written contact (i.e. about us + privacy page) but the products are all added and the layout/color scheme is 99%done unless you guys find some major errors with it. So.. what do you guys think? How is the ease of use of the site? What about navigation wise? Thanks in advance Chris Konflikt Electronics
Guest
hmm. You can see in that site that someone has given time to design it. But yet I don`t know what is it that gives me the feeling that theres something wron on that site.
CLKeenan
yes, I definately put in a lot od design time lol. But I would like to know whats making you think theres something wrong with it lol :)
trendyfashion
My first impression was WOW nice, need to go see what this sites about. Fantastic design but the red didnt carry well to the store. Its a nice accent to the first page but then it became to much red when I clicked on the products links. Also you have a nice modern look on the main...techy also but it's lost when you enter the store. Of course I look at my osc site everyday like the rest of us so it jumps out and screams stock osc site on the inside. If you could carry the whole look from the first page into the store front you would be the MACK DADDY osc designer! The Wiki Docs: Read them, live them and be thankful for them! Guest
Chop it up if nothing else, 177k of image mapping is not a good idea, neither is having no text on your site for SE's to grab hold of. Its been over optimised so I can see that faint blur JPEG compression gives to text. It looks very nice, there are a few things I would just clean up. On the nav bar - cut off your line overlays at the top. Green, red and orange is a slightly strange combo, not sure the 3 work great well together The Welcome area doesnt really add anything, consider removing it. V.nice tho
Jud
I like the site, it is a great example of how to take a bought template and seamlessly incorporate it with oscommerce. Good Job.
Chad
didnt the place you purchased this template from give you the html already sliced up? I could of swore they do or at least they should of. Anyhow.. thats a nice template. Might want to go to the place to bought it and see if they'll make you a new button set. Navigation is ok, but you should implement the template into your store, not just the front page. This sudden change of one part of your site looking good to clicking on a link and going to a same ole same ole oscommerce design is boring. Text on product info page and contact page is too big. Don't know what else to comment on.. other then the main page looking good, the rest of the store is basically a default boring install. You have some nice products though... CLKeenan
red didnt carry well to the store hmmm - not to discredit your opinion but I've received a few compliments about the red color scheme so I'll wait for more opinions to come in :) lost when you enter the store I agree - I didn't really want to overdo it because I felt that in the introductory page I was stating what we are about basically (modern techonology for extremely good prices) and now that they know that I didn't want to drive it into their head a gazillion times once they load the products page - understand what I mean kinda? If you have any ideas of how to carry over the initial theme into the products area please let me know. I have thought about it but I haven't come up with anything just yet. screams stock osc site on the inside. I still am working on this but I don't have many ideas :( I added the Nav bar at the top and the footer bar at the bottom) Not really sure what else I can do. Maybe I'm just a bit burnt out - spent hours upon hours working on this. Probably 18 out of the last 2 days. If you could carry the whole look from the first page into the store front you would be the MACK DADDY osc designer! LOL - I can dream :) On the nav bar - cut off your line overlays at the top. " Sorry - not sure what you mean exactly :( Please explain it a bit more thorough so I can understand)\ Green, red and orange is a slightly strange combo, not sure the 3 work great well together I actually think they flowed quite well in the welcome screen, but it doesnt matter how much I like it if all my potential customers don't. Unless I receive a vast amount of feedback on it, I probably won't change it though. The Welcome area doesnt really add anything, consider removing it. Sorry - not gonna happen lol :) I spent way too much time and I actually think it lets people know what the site is about in real fast and gives them an image to think of while they are visiting the rest of the site. The person I designed this also really really really liked this part too. neither is having no text on your site for SE's to grab hold of Couldn't I just insert commented out text and wouldn't the SE's grab that? I heard thats what a lot of sites do. Or did the SE's get smarter? Its been over optimised so I can see that faint blur JPEG compression gives to text. Thats something I can fix easily. I'll do that for sure. Chop it up if nothing else, 177k of image mapping is not a good idea I'll get around to that eventually once I master PS :) I like the site, it is a great example of how to take a bought template and seamlessly incorporate it with oscommerce. Good Job. While it isn't completely a bought template (I did a fairly good amount of mods to the original template), that is what I was striving towards :) Thanks :) All of your feedback has been greatly appreciated :) Please keep it up :) Also, if you think a contribution would work well with my site please let me know. So far I don't have any really :(

Its not about overdoing it, its about continuation of brand recognition, what about customers who dont see your hyper modern front page? 50%+ of my customers enter the site on a page other than the homepage.. EricK
I like it! The "About Us" link is broken. Font on "Contact Us" page is a bit too large. Replace the stock osC buttons with XP style contribution buttons. cheers, EricK
jello1
Nice... Stock template... you should DL BTS and incorp the front page into the catalog. CLKeenan
what about customers who dont see your hyper modern front page? 50%+ of my customers enter the site on a page other than the homepage.. Oooh - good point didn't even think about that. Thanks for pointing that out. The "About Us" link is broken. Yes, I know - I'm waiting for my client to send me the so I can put it up. Font on "Contact Us" page is a bit too large. Good point, I'll change that now Replace the stock osC buttons with XP style contribution buttons. XP style contrib buttons? I take it someone submitted these? Let me see if I can find them you should DL BTS and incorp the front page into the catalog. what does BTS do exactly? RED RED RED IS A HUGE NO NO in the world of ecommerce gah  Is there a way in Photoshop to put a layer over it to make it change colors or do I need to redo the graphics completely? Thanks for the advice guys :)
CLKeenan
can anyone check to make sure my SSL is working correctly? I get a popup saying there are both secure and unsecure items on the page. If I click yes saying I want to load both secure and unsecure, it goes to internet mode (unprotected) If I click no, then I get protected mode. But at almost every page that comes up. Is there anyway I can get rid of it as I;m sure it would be quite annoying to the customers.
trendyfashion
Yeah I get same thing with IE6.0...it's an image thing I think. Dont use html path for images use php. My header image caused this error..this is what I did in header.php to fix <?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'logo_2.jpg'); ?> instead of html links The Wiki Docs: Read them, live them and be thankful for them!

Guest
you have this posted in twice, you should avoid making double posts, as it gets confusing. your other post deals directly with the ssl problem, this one you wanted reviews, would be best to go to the other ost and refer people to this thread. CLKeenan
hmmm - mind showing me where to put that in I'm using an image map and I cant figure out where to add it in there if you want, feel free to message me on AIM @ soccercrzy to discuss in real time
burt
This page: http://www.konfliktelectronics.com/ is lovely looking, but it is (or seems to be to me) 1 large image. Which as a previous person in the thread pointed out, is not good with regards Search Engines. So when I clicked into "products" I was expecting to find the Store laid out in exactly the same way as that page...kinda dissappointing to find that it is not laid out in a nice design... It would not be very diffcult to take that index page design and port that to Oscommerce - then you will have a site to be proud of and a site that is "1 of a kind". Also to do that you don't need to install any Template Systems if you don't want to - these can lead to problems when you want to install Contributions or upgrade to a later version of Oscommerce. Also agree with a couple of previous posters about red in an ecom site. In my opinion it is a big "no" - red means "stop", "danger" and so on. Red hotspots though are great: eg pointy arrows. Which as a previous person in the thread pointed out, is not good with regards Search Engines. That is definately something I am working on. But for the time being, couldn't I just comment out lines of terms/paragraphs etc? kinda dissappointing to find that it is not laid out in a nice design... Also something I am working on, but still haven't figured a way to do that yet. It would not be very diffcult to take that index page design and port that to Oscommerce Mind giving me a few ways to do that? Cause I am unsure of how I would start Also agree with a couple of previous posters about red in an ecom site What color would you suggest? I was kinda thinking blue? Thanks again for the advice, it is much appreciated :)
trendyfashion
As far as the red inside the store, leave it in the header nav red but get rid of the red boxes. What happened to the ssl stuff Chris? You were so close last night on having it fixed. Like I said change the index.html call in your header to the index.php just to see if that fixes it The Wiki Docs: Read them, live them and be thankful for them! CLKeenan
I'm still working on adding it :) I woke up at 8am got something to eat replied to posts overnight then went to swim practice. just got back now I'll fix that up right now :)
Guest
Front Page excellent, I was really looking forward to getting into your site - what a huge let down. As many have mentioned already. Keep the red header, looks good. Stick to mainly silvers/shades of grey using the orange and perhaps a green (similar to the sofa colour) as small accent colours. Use box headers similar to your "Company Policies" and "Featured Products" headers that are on the main page for heading up your osCommerce boxes. The buttons on your main page ("Buy Now", "Add to Cart") must be carried through into the rest of the design, start creating more to match these. Your product description text is too large. You must, must, must get rid of the standard osCommerce clipart they look naff.
