Quick question here on background color

I'm trying to keep my book images from being distorted when I input them into os Commerce. I figured out that if I make them square they work out nicely. To do that I add space around the image but right now it's showing up as white. http://childrencomefirst.com/shop/index.php

I use PaintShop Pro to work with images. What is the that nice/soft color os Commerce uses on its pages? the light one? I'd like to make the extra space around my images that color so they'll show seemlessly on the page.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Oooopppsss...just realized that if I match that nice soft color os commerce uses then the book cover will show up weird in the actual product page, http://childrencomefirst.com/shop/product_...?products_id=29

So...my question then is... how can I keep the automatic picture sizing within os Commerce from distorting the books cover images?

Please let me know. Thanks.

If all the images are roughly the same size, delete either the height or width setting in admin > Configuration > Images (leave it blank). It will resize that dimension proportionately to the change in the other, retaining the height/width ratio in the resize.

Btw, if you use GIFs or PNGs, you can make part of the image transparent rather than a color. Then it will match the background automatically.

Thanks, Matt! That was a nifty trick f/making the extra space in the images transparent. Works great!!! :D

The other answer you gave me for keeping osCommerce from resizing my book covers I'm not sure where that file is. In my admin folder I don't have a configuration folder. I only have atwo folders inside my admin folder: includes and images. Inside the admin folder I do have a stand alone file names "configuration.php." Is this the file I should try and change image? I couldn't find in there any number value associated w/the word "image." <_<

Not a folder: links. Probably say something else in your case, but in english, the links are named Configuration and Images. Look for polish that translates to those two terms.

I saw your response to me here and also your response to another topic that was specifically asking same thing I was and then the lights went on in my head. :D

I went to the actual online/live admin pages and clicked under "configuration" and under it the link for "images" was clear as day. I clicked that and erased the small image size number that was there, left it blank, and now my book covers look great.

Thanks again f/taking the time to walk this osCommerce newby thru this.
