uploading new category images

I'm working away at this awesome program and have hit a snag...

I want to add different category images than the ones that came w/the sample store because I'll be selling books not software/DVDs/etc. I'm uploading animated gifts for the category headings (I know they're fuzzy, I'll work on cleaning the images later) and they're loading fine but I get this error message...even though when I look at the public page it shows fine,

Warning: copy(/home/children/public_html/shop/images/ani-book-sm.gif): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/children/public_html/shop/admin/categories.php on line 71

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/children/public_html/shop/admin/categories.php:71) in /home/children/public_html/shop/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 18

----What does this mean??? What am I doing wrong??? The pages look fine but I'm wondering if ignoring this error is going to catch up w/me later...like when the store goes live...

here's what it looks like now: http://childrencomefirst.com/shop/index.php?cPath=1

Please, someone, let me know what the error message means? Thanks!

Which one of the following methods are you one using?

Are you uploading the image first, then trying to set the Category Image to the images directory?

Or...

Are you clicking "browse" and selecting the image from your local PC?

You should be using the second method.

Thanks f/responding. I was doing it the first way, first FTPing the image to my site and then just inputting the image name int he box and clicking "save." --- I now did it the second way you suggested and clicked "browse" and found the image in my PC and put it there...but the exact same warning message comes up... I'm stumped... :(

Hi Randy, thanks f/again responding. Nope. I have not added any contributions that I know of...(meaning I know enough about installing working w/os commerce to be dangerous! :D I don't know if maybe I've done something and am not even aware I did it...)--- all I've done so far is put in my store logo and links to it and named two categories I want to put books under and deleted all the sample ones that were there before. -- I just don't know what this message I keep getting means and that worries me...sounds omminous (sp?), doesn't it?

  • 1 month later...

After finding the image on my local HD, is it right to have the red 'X' in all the image boxes? Am I doing something wrong? Or is it this:

NOTE: To upload or remove images, make sure the catalog/images directory has WRITE permission for the user that runs your Apache process (eg, nobody). This can be made by executing the following commands:

cd catalog

chmod -R nobody.nobody images

Thx!
