Guest
My web host doesn't offer SSL. Is there any other way to accept credit cards through the database? Are there sites that will host just a secure link? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm not sure what to do now that I have my store all set up and am not able to take cards securely. Thanks
doby48
You can always use someone like 2checkout to process cards. They are a popular method for those without SSL. Remember... Pillage BEFORE you burn!
Guest
I'm using Mals ecommerce currently with my site that's up right now....but I wasn't sure if the os commerce would send the info over to mal's???
doby48
If you are saying that you want to collect the information in osCommerce then pass those values on to Mals? First thing you are going to need to do something like this is a mod to communicate with Mals. Then yes, you will need SSL on your site. The bottom line is if you want to have a Secure Connection it must be secure where the customers enter their information all the way through to the end of the transaction. If you are going to collect on your site and pass the values to somewhere else then you the SSL would need to be on your site. Hosting of a secure link? I have never heard of such a thing, closest thing is that payment processors have their own secure site so if the information is entered directly on their site then it would not be needed (such as the case of 2checkout). doby48
Another thing to keep in mind is that sites that offer SSL are offering Shared Certificates. If you are not opposed to paying, it would be recommended anyways that you purchase a private certifcate. Contact your hosting provider to find out if they get special costs and who certificates they will accept (ex. GeoTrust, VeriSign, etc.) Remember... Pillage BEFORE you burn!
