rvout
How do you go about setting up shipping options to where most products are shipped based on a table, but some heavier products go by a special shipping rate, perhaps caculated from a separate chart, or perhaps UPS zone/weight style shipping, etc.? Explain for a rookie please. I've read over the forums but can't find much on this topic.
Guest
My 2cents worth. I just finished modifying the shipping module and added two new shipping methods essentially duplicating from 'zones' method. I noticed a neat feature in OsCommerce enables multiple shipping options to be displayed. I'm thinking, if you limited the first table to a certain weight, set internally within the table rates; then an additional method, aptly named 'larger shipping packages' should be made to appear by default. Since this table would have values that start at higher weight, it would show higher shipping costing, so naturally avoided by shoppers placing orders for smaller packages. There is one danger though, the normal method still being displayed showing calculation at maximum of it's internal table. This would be a disaster should shoppers select this option. Additional steps to hack the program to exclude whichever inappropriate shipping option can probaly solve the issue. This is not tested by me but an idae on how to resolve the issue. schmodi
Jetzkr8-- Can you explain how you duplicated the zone shipping mod and got it to work? I really could use that info! Thanks!
