media1 Posted December 22, 2003 Share Posted December 22, 2003 I need to be able to add multiple manufacturers and possible sub-manufacturers to the products, much like the categories does anybody know what I can do? I know that this can be used for selling cds when a cd has more than one artist, or replacement parts that fit more than one manufacturer??? I can't seem to find anything. Guest Posted December 23, 2003 Share Posted December 23, 2003 You would have to redo manufacturers to use the same system as categories does. I.e. rewrite all the code that references manufacturers. An easier way is to define all of these as categories relationships, since products can already be in more than one category. I.e. ignore the names...manufacturers to products is a one to many relationship; what you want is a many to many relationship, which is what the categories system does. For example, if you have a product named Air Filter #1, you might have it in the following categories: Car Parts > Engine Parts > Air Filters Dodge > Stealth > Air Filters Mitsubishi > 3000 > Air Filters Just use the Copy To function and choose Link (as opposed to Duplicate).
