greysun Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 I am taking over where the last employee didnt leave any of the user names and passwords for the admin panels. Is there a way to get in around the user name and password I tried adding a new user name and password in the admin table but encryption is enabled so I think that may be why its not accepting the password. I was told before that I could delete the original password and add my own but again after I deleted it i realized encryption is enabled. so now I am stuck without even the original admin password. I am in a real bad spot here can any one help me?
FIMBLE Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Hi, create a new .htaccess file and upload it via FTP to your admin folder and then place a new .htpasswd to where ever you want. Other than that you can replace the encrypted one your own, visit http://www.jadles.co.uk/cgi-bin/htpass.cgi to encrypt your own password. FIMBLE Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Hi, What do you have protecting the admin folder? .htaccess, of some other form of protection? Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
greysun Posted December 20, 2003 Author Posted December 20, 2003 whatever the admin log in screen uses. im not sure. it is a default load of osc I havent done anything special. I just need to change the admin password. I am having a little trouble finding my way around now. Could be because I have been staring at it for 10 hours LOL
Guest Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 I am assuming he is using the admin contribution, you should be able to create another user. Do this, then logout, then log back in with the new user to make sure you have access. Then you can delete the old admin user and then create another new one. Keep a backdoor user name and password, and store that with the company backup data in the safety deposit box (you do keep company backups in a safety deposit box done you?) That way, if you leave, the company will know a backdoor password to get in. In fact, all the supervisor passwords should be stored in the safety deposit box (the ones that do not change, ie the service passwords, etc)
FIMBLE Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 oh, I was not aware of this contribution. Thanks for the info I will take a look myself. 10 hours eh? They sure left you with a headache, good luck. Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
greysun Posted December 20, 2003 Author Posted December 20, 2003 acctually I dont have any mods installed. Unless h-sphere has a modded version it installs by default. I am not sure what you mean about safety deposit box. I do not see any info about this. I will check out that mod though. For now I did find the area to change the password. Sometimes it amazes me how easy the answer is once I know what it is :) thanks everyone for all your help
