Is a MySQL database set up on your new hosting service? Did you upload the database as well? Did you change both configure.php files to point to the new database? If you've done all that, please give us a URL to look at.

I have no idea what format that screenshot is in, and neither does my browser.

In any case, you have a couple of problems. First, your new web server does not recognize index.php (or default.php) as the default file to display. Talk to your hosting service about changing this.

Secondly, you apparently didn't set up your database. If you have not modified osCommerce then a reinstall would be the easiest. Otherwise you are going to have to set up a new database, copy the tables from the old one, and modify your configure.php files to point to the new database. Nothing will work until this is done.

You have to change the server setup to look for default.php as an Index file. You might have to ask the hosting company to do this for you.

I have also seen this with one of my hosting solutions, and the problem lay with the .htaccess file once removed the site functioned and a new .htaccess file was created and uploaded.

contact the hosting company as matt says.

as for the .htaccess file I could not see it either until I contacted the hosting company, who told me it was there and renamed it for me, then I could see it.

Contact your hosting company and explain the situation.

the problem lies in the fact that you are using your aol account to setup your web site. aol does not support php nor do they have sql support, unless they have changed things in the last little while.

you need a real live host, who has php, curl and oscommerce available. you get what you pay for service wise. less money, less bells and whistles and less tech support. more money and you get 24/7 support by phone. your choice. pm me if you wish, i can give you more advice on this matter.

I think it has to do with the PHP settings, I have a site set up on my own computer and using the index.php file ends in the same results. I have yet to figure out how to fix the configuration but I'm sure your hosting company will know what to do! Good Luck!

This is a server setting. If you are running Apache, look in your httpd.conf (usually in Apache/conf/). Look for this section:

#

# DirectoryIndex: Name of the file or files to use as a pre-written HTML

# directory index.  Separate multiple entries with spaces.

#

<IfModule mod_dir.c>

    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm

</IfModule>

I have this set to look for an index.php first, then if that doesn't exist look for index.html, then index.htm, then do a directory listing (if allowed). You don't need to have more than one filename in the list; this just lets me have some static HTML files in subdirectories if I want to.

You should be able to copy this block into an .htaccess file as well, provided that you have .htaccess enabled. I haven't actually tried this, so don't rely too heavily on this bit.

If you are using a hosting service, look in your hosting Control Panel for this setting. If it is not in the CP ask your hosting service to change this for you, or use the .htaccess file trick to override their setting.

If you are running a different server then likely none of this applies.

Jim
