dp1795 Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Just begin looking at osCommerce and it seems to have progressed greatly in the last year when I first looked. We have an existing site which is based on a completely custom asp/SQL server 2000, heavy stored procs and ultradev templates based system. It has worked very well and rock solid/fast stable over past 2 years. We are now looking at options for changing the platform as we require faster and efficient development of add on and custom modules (many of which oscommerce contribs have variations of), and we require a template based system which will allow us to have one system/database but each partner will have there own storefront. The storefronts will have same features, except have a subset of products, and different category hierarchies, and visually will have different color, headers, logos. We dont want to have 100 different copies of the php site running (1 for each partner) as maintenance would be a nightmare. Is OsCommerce a feasible platform for this? Thanks, Darren
JonCloud Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 Hi, If you search the contributions section I think that you will find an addon for controlling multiple stores from one single admin interface. J
dp1795 Posted December 18, 2003 Author Posted December 18, 2003 Thanks, I'm looking through the multi-store modules which are available. They all look like they require copying of whole site files into a subdirectory. Is there any way to do this with templates, where based on the domain entered, different template files would be used? Any other comments, suggestions, or approaches to the above project/concept of porting existing system over, and making it multi-store/template based? Thanks, Darren
Guest Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 The BTS contribution could be modified to use multiple template directories (while sharing the content code). Hth, Matt
