lestat
hello I've got a few questions about extending oscommerce and compatibility to forthcoming official releases. well I'm a newbie so may sorry for bothering you with it... 1. I plan to extend the database table products or/and create other new tables to show all the wanted extended data on the website (product_info; advanced_search_result, category). IMHO with this I'm running in a dead end, if I'm still want to migrate to newer versions. So I'm banned to migration always the changed phps and problems in the future about the db structure are programmed. 2. Do an ?new version updater? include some intelligence to check files for modifications or additional extenders, and is a new version able to handle this (also backward compatible)? 3. The contributions what i saw always overwriting some core php-files. Also in the standard-coding-file nothing explained about integration for contributions. In my opinion this con. should always laying outside and linked through a main configuration file and if necessary overwrite standard modules/functions only virtually while running... thx marcel
