cgchris99
I just noticed that on amazon.com when looking for certain products, other companies show up. ie circuit city, etc. Does this mean that I can have my stores products on amazon.com? Does anyone have any details on the requirements? Thanks for any info
Adam
Don't know if US is the same as UK, if it is... You set up a user account on amazon, sign up as a seller - pay ?25 per month to be a pro merchant. Then if Amazon sell the product you simply click the 'sell yours here' button and add your details. Then when you view the product it will say 'Buy new 2 from ?89.99' , etc and you will be listed. That's the marketplace side of Amazon. You can use a bulk inventory loader to upload all your products. If Amazon don't sell your product you fill out a 'Page Creation' template send it to Amazon, they give you an 'ASIN' number, you can then complete the details for that product and from then on in use the bulk loader. In the UK Amazon do a zShops thing, you can set up a store front and sell virtually anything regardless of wether Amazon list it. I am setting one up for a customer right now : Scalesexpress.com Amazon Shop Amazon usually charge the customer ?5 shipping then take 15-17.5% commission for the sale and deposit the balance straight into your account. Takes alot of work to set up, thats why most smaller sites don't do it. But that's also a good reason to put the effort in. You have to keep on top of it, if there are two sites listed and they have a lower price, well... Also the customer reviews are prominent, so keep your customers happy as you profile is all important to sales. Good luck. /* Intellectual property: are you for or against the human race? */ if ( you want exclusive ownership of an idea ) { keep your idea to yourself; // you greedy bastard }
cgchris99
Is there a page that explains the fees like commission. That's pretty high 15-17%
cgchris99
Since no one else posted. I'll answer my own questions in case anyone is interested. Amazon charges 0.99 for each sale and 6-15% commission. It appears it doesn't cost anything to list. Commission breakdown: Computers = 6 percent Camera & Photo and Electronics items = 8 percent Items in the Everything Else Store = 10 percent All other product lines = 15 percent Can you say ouch. It says if your item doesn't sell within 60 days, the listing is closed and you pay nothing. Is anyone listing their items with amazon?
radders
I did buy a few things that way. I must say I wasn't impressed! Firstly although the prices are cheaper than Amazon's own, the shipping makes up the difference. Secondly one of the items was incorreclty described and Amazon's policy on returns wasn't much help although I did manage to get a refund despite this. Another item was out of stock at the sellers despite showing as in stock on Amazon's site. The third item was ok. So loads of hassle, weeks of waiting and saved about 5%. cgchris99
I wasn't interested in purchasing this way, I was actually considering selling my products using amazon. But there is no way I am giving them 15%
