Hi I'd like to get some feedback on the test store that I've created. I know there are a few bugs but if anyone finds something I'd be grateful if they'd let me know.

Comments welcome on :-

1. layout, graphics and colours

2. speed of loading

3. how it appears in 800x600 (I'm on 1024x768)

4. the added features

5. anything else :)

it is in constant testing so it might be broken as i experiment with things once in a while.

it loaded fairly quickly but the header graphic needs to be changed. also some sort of differention between the left column and main column would do wonders (via different background colors or boxes).

I agree. The colors on the Header are too much with the red at the bottom.

Also, there are TWO "Latest News" boxes. Under the center, and on the left in an additional infobox.

Adding differential to that would make it at least have a more deliniated appearance as well. Its like, um? Whats that separated over there for? right now.

Moving the Login to the top of the Left column, then putting the Shopping cart beneath that would give it a smoother layout.

If you only have yourself as the sole Manufacturer, you can get rid of that box altogether. Not needed at all.

Putting the Search opposite the Top>Catalogue would be a nice touch too. Also changing the color of that itself. Again, with the red, especially ON red. Very hard to see.

Also, the "Pure White" tee is purple :)

What is the Click to Enlarge, and the image gets smaller of the waving smiley? Confused as to what that is supposed to be...

I think thats basically all I saw in my sleepy state..

I do like the rounded edges on the whole site. Howd you do that? Oh, and the buttons are very easy to read, along with the little triangle on the categories. Nice touches!

One of these days, I will actually understand what I just changed...

But reading the Manual DEFINATELY helps...

(hmmm not sure if the last poster was saying the image had to change or the whole header. it is supposed to be bold and striking though)

(yes the centre one is only on the index page tho, so as you navigate the site it will vanish leaving the one in the left column, but i see the point, maybe the column one should go)

(did originally think of that but the login box changes into an account info box upon logging in, whereas i'd prefer it to vanish completely, maybe im using the wrong addon)

(there will be more, its only cos its in testing)

(the idea behind that was that it was supposed to be subtle until your mouse rolled over it, i realise i havent tested it on lower colour resolutions so i'll check that out)

(blame transparent images)

(just a test icon - "enlarge" actually means "show in actual size" i guess - the finished images will all be bigger than the thumbnail tho)

(corners - using STS, create a template page with table cells around the edges and fill them with graphics. i thought it was going to be easy until i started! happy to pass on the template page to show how it's done)

(buttons - a standard set of OSC buttons but they've all been made transparent so that i never have to change them if i mess with the colour scheme)

(triangles - hum i've forgotten the name of the add-on that does that. will have to think)

thank you for the comments though, will take on board.

Your links on the header (My Account, etc) and your breadcrumb links (Top|Catalogue) are of too similar a hue to their respective backgrounds, you need to make them contrasting colours.

I understand you want them to be subtle but you are not in this for a design award, are you? Think of the visually impaired users that have certain colour deficits and cannot distinguish colours of similar hues, they would be aswell turning the monitor off and guessing where the links are.

Too many colours and sizes of fonts used, try and be consistent with them.

Always end on a positive they tell me, I like your buttons (Checkout, Update Cart etc)
