Guest
Hi, I am looking ot install MS2. I have downloaded the osCommerce-2.2MS2.zip file. Then I read the installation instructions at http://wiki.oscommerce.com/docsInstallNew The next step is to upload all those files in the zip file onto my server. I am FTPing it. However, as I could not figure out how to FTP files that are zipped into a zip file to my server, I decided to first unzip the file into a folder on my hard drive (let's just keep it simple and say that I unzipped to a folder called c:\OSC) Thenext step would be to upload from the folder on my hard drive in which I unzipped the osCommerce2.2MS2.zip. However, already I have stumbled upon a problem. You see, if I understand correctly, the files within the zip file are supposed to be zipped up into folders (catalog and admin) so that when I unzip the file, all files are organized with \in the catalog and admin folders and thier respecive subfolders. However this is not the case. When I unzip the OSC zip file, I just get a whole buch of files non of which are in either a catalog or and admon folder. Can anyone help. Is my zip file bad or did I already read the installation istructions incorrectly?
Guest
Just ftp the catalog folder up to your site, ie if you want osc to be in a folder named catalog on your server, just ftp the catalog folder to your htdocs folder. else copy them where you want, store, or whatever
Guest
I am using cute FTP. When I look at my folders and files under my domain, I see no HTdocs. Futhermore, why could I just not creat the folders under my domain within cute FTP. BUt even iff I did this, it still does not solve the problem. Like I said, even if I creat a "catalog" folder, when I FTP the files within the zip file, they will ALL be under catalog and none will be under my admin and all the subfolders. You say FTP THE catalog folder to you HTdocs. Even if I knew where to find that HTdocs, where would I get this catalog folder. As I said. My zip file contains no folders. As you may realize, I am very confused.
TerryK
If you're using WinZip to unzip the files, after you click on the 'Extract Files' button, you should see a button on the lower left-hand side of the next screen giving you the option to 'Use Folder Names.' If that's checked, it should retain the original directory/file structure.
