Google AdWords?

I hear people say how great AdWords is .... so I decided to try it thinking, ... this will help considering Google bashed my rankings so I would buy this anyways.

I set up an account, (1) ad and a budget for $50 a day right .... going good ..

First day ... $34 in charges .. cool budget not met and a few sales.

Second Day $74 in charges .. heh? (Budget set at $50.00) I send an email to support. Get a generic response from an automated system. ARRGH!

Third Day I lowered the budget to $25 .. and still got charged $76.00

Today I shut the account down, printed my invoices and sent a nasty email to AdWords telling them how I felt as a business owner. (like it even matters)

Anyone else notice this, or seeing the same results ? $rape$rape$rape$

Well, I am done with AdWords here ... they continue to bash the people they bashed on November 22nd. It is funny how business with Google works ... they just keep taking even when you say to stop. Sounds a bit like rape to me.

Well I would like to hear feedback on this .. if any. Speak up!

I took $400 bucks I budgeted for Google AdWords and got me a good SEO company. PayPer Click is going down because casual internet browsers cost businesses way too much money with PPC ... heads up people ! Get yer site ranked and optimized by a good SEO. Far better than .30 to 1.89 a click.

*click*click*click* Your business is dead.

It ain't difficult to get #1 rankings on Google, just need to play Google at it's own game. Adwords won't help, and your budget is aggregated over a month.

$50 a day = $1500 per month. It won't go over $1500.

LAst month i spent 27k on Google.... NEVER AGAIN!!!.. 800.00 a day they charged my card and my limit was 500.00 only did about 60k in sales from Google.... same with overture... I spent about 60k last month.. still same issue. i was spending around 1.50 a click!!!....

Now... I just bought Network banners on AOL and Yahoo... PCP sucks!!! much rather pay for impressions....but we do ALOT of business from the AOL banners alone.... this is way to go plus you get a banner instead of a link..

If you can't fix it Perl it!!!...

I never found a lot of success with google in my experience. I've found AOL and Yahooooo (yodel) to be far better.

Yahoo and Google are the same. Don't kid yourself.

As far as the AOL banners ... Impressions ... A paid click is a paid click. Impressions or clicks it is still paying for the clicks. Overtime it will eat your profits.

The key is referals, honesty and good business practices.

If I can ever find someone that sells biking safety equipment, I will link to them and hope they would link to me. This will increase my ranks and also make a few sales for them. I have a pretty good looking banner already made, but finding people to link to me is tough.

Anyone sell safety equipment ?

ie: bike helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and gloves? I got a proposal for you.

Yahoo and google are not the same.

Yahoo has many visitors that differ from Google, know why?

Google is just a search engine, directory, and means of finding things, that is all. People go to google to FIND a page, a product, or a specific idea.

Yahoo has a different focus. They are more store oriented, and push the advertisements more, so visitors lay more credibility on their advertisements. Its the God's honest truth, and results prove it.

I have been with Google, and their Adwords for a year now, and it is working really well for me.

yes, on occassion they have gone over my daily/monthly budget, but in the end when they charged my card, their gave me a credit for the overages. Because I set a limit and they went over, they credited my account.

I have never had a problem with them. My site has a good ranking, so I use this to get me into searches I wouldn't normally be in.

Google Adwords is good, if you can`t get your site to the top of the results.

I have gotten my self third with keyword playstation 2 in my country in googles results. 60% of my traffic comes from Google...

It`s very easy to get a high position on google with oscommerce, because it creates so many links and pages...

google adwords is ok but can be expensive. Here is the key to google adwords.

1) NEVER take any generic keyword. If it does not fit your site exactly and talk about "spending money" or "buying" dont buy the keyword or phrase.

2) NEVER EVER bid the highest or even middle of the road to get to #1...bid the minimum $ and let your click rate get you to #1. This is the key to saving money.

The 2nd item is the real key. If your click thru rate for an ad is below 3% you need to change it so you wont get to #1 with that rate. My average is 5%-12% and my ppc is at the minimum $ always!!!!!

Frank -

Like #2, and just made the change on my account. Hopefully that will help out.

But what do you mean by "If it does not fit your site exactly and talk about 'spending money' or 'buying' dont buy the keyword or phrase." What kind of keywords and phrases should be used?

I think most people forget its a "search engine" so they just think what keyword with traffic can I buy. An example would be..say the scooter pro guy is buying keywords. He wouldn't want to buy the keyword "scooter" or "electric scooter". Sure it fits his site but what is the user searching for? Scooter could be just part of their search phrase which could have been searching for "scooter safety" or "how to build a scooter".

My candy ad was one of the best I have ever run on google. 6%-8% ctr and converted at 1 in 10. My hits we very low but keywords were very targeted. Generics like "buy candy" and "buy candy online" were not purchased! Keywords I did use.."buy candy online with credit card", "order candy from online candy shop". How many hits you think those got? Not many but they converted!

Hope that helps and remember CTR is king on google...not paying the most to be #1! My 6% ctr brought me to the top with the minimum bid amout!
