Studio 839 Posted December 15, 2003 Share Posted December 15, 2003 I can't get pass the first page. I have everything working php, apache, mysql. I can'get pass the first part of the installation. Please see below: A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. I know I'm doing something wrong. I check previous post and this seems common and yet the answers still are not working for me. Wiki couldn't answer problem. I know it something small that I'm missing. database server localhost Username-my short name Password- my password Database name-Oscommerce What on earth am I missing? Also, I maybe pulling my hair out for nothing and maybe someone can answer this question. I already have my site done and built by someone and I want to make changes beyond my ADMIN area, Do I still have to go thru the process of putting the software on my system. Also, in the database server section I'm a little nervous to put my domain info because for some reason I think it will erase what is there. Please help! silverslayer Posted December 15, 2003 Share Posted December 15, 2003 insure that your MySQL server is running... I get teh same message on the rare occations that I forget to start the thing up.
