Has anyone put together an "OSC for Dummies" guide yet? I have seen a lot of people asking the same questions (including me) over and over again, in several cross postings too.

If anyone has the knowledge compiled to create a very straight forward and simple guide for OSC installation modification, and use of the Best of the Best contributions, this would stop many of the repetitive postings. I think we all agree that it is very difficult to wade through this huge forum to find the answers we are looking for.

If I had the knowledge, I would do it myself and post it in contributions for all to benefit from, but I don't.

So if someone out there has the savvy to try, I will be glad, very glad, to make a donation for your effort.

My proposal is that this guide should contain:

Simple, Layman's instructions:

for installing OSC

for creating a spreadsheet file for bulk populating your products (there are a few contributions for this out there, but they are difficult at best for beginners)

for customizing the look and feel of your OSC pages

for working with mySql (basic terms, table structure examples, sql, etc.)

In other words, as I said earlier, "OSC for Dummies". You know Darn well that this would be the most popular contribution ever made, if it were done right.

Heck, if you guys want to send me all of this info, I'll try it out, find what works best, tweak the wording (not the code, I don't do programming), and compile a contribution in the form of a guide book myself (free of charge with no expectations of course). I'm pretty good at sorting info, if the info is accurate to begin with.

Either way, this really needs to be done, and I think we all agree.

So, here's to everyone's success with OSC, and with your online adventures!

Happy Holidays! :D

Tom
