TerryK
In store config: Shipping/Packaging, there is a field for Package tare weight, where it prompts me to enter the weight of small to medium packages. I've set it at 100 grams. The next field is for "Larger Packages - percentage increase" which I've set at 10%. My question is, at what point does osC deem a package to be larger and apply the percentage increase? Or is there somewhere in the files where I can set that point? Thanks in advance for any help! Guest
I believe you've got this wrong. The TARE field simply adds this value to all orders automatically. It's meant to compensate for packaging weight in addition to usual merchandise weight. As for the other field, larger...... IU'm still trying to figure it out
TerryK
You're right -- I did mean to say packaging, not packages. My small to medium boxes weigh about 100g. But for heavier packages, my boxes weigh anywhere from 200-400g. Since I can't figure out the point at which osC increases the tare weight, I've decided to add some extra weight to the heavier items that I know will trigger the bigger box size. It seems to be the easiest way to do it. dskl
It works like this: (assuming percent increase is set to 10%) If tare weight is equal to or greater than 10% of item weight, shipping weight = item weight + tare weight. If tare weight is less than 10% of item weight, shipping weight = item weight + 10% of item weight Dave
aharpur
It works like this: (assuming percent increase is set to 10%) If tare weight is equal to or greater than 10% of item weight, shipping weight = item weight + tare weight. If tare weight is less than 10% of item weight, shipping weight = item weight + 10% of item weight Dave What a strange box of tricks the shipping module is! Imagine having a specified % increase for large items without bothering to tell us what a large item is. Well done, Dave, for explaining this.
