ashinco
What exactly is the differnece between the MS2 version and the CVS version (in other words, what does CVS stand for?) Guest
CVS = "Concurrent Versions System" - it is a sytem to control and track changes during the development of software - 'CVS 2.2' is the development version of osCommerce - snapshots are released on a daily basis - these can be unpredictably unstable and are not recommended for the average user. MS = "Milestone" - these are 'stable' releases made available during the development process - contributions are generally designed to suit a particular Milestone release - the current version is MS2 - this is the recommended version to use for your website :D Matti
ashinco
Hi Matti, nice to finally meet you. Thanks for your quick reply. I just downloaded and installed the newest CSV version of OSC and everything went smooth witht he installation until the last page, where I got this: New Installation osCommerce Configuration Warning: fopen(/hsphere/local/home/wtashby/campbundy.com/catalog/admin/includes/configure.php) [function.fopen]: failed to create stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/wtashby/campbundy.com/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 259 Warning: fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /hsphere/local/home/wtashby/campbundy.com/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 260 Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /hsphere/local/home/wtashby/campbundy.com/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 261 The configuration was successful! What can I do to correct this? Thanks, Tom
Guest
Set file permissions on both catalog/admin/includes/configure.php and catalog/includes/configure.php to 777 - then reinstall, selecting no to the database import. Reset permissions on those files to 644 after installation - rename or delete the install directory. Matti
ashinco
Matti, I did exactly what you said to do (chmoding), and I get the same exact errors, including this when I try to access my admin: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /hsphere/local/home/wtashby/campbundy.com/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! However, when I re-install the older versoin of OSC ms2.2, I don't have any errors. Just when I install the new CVS version. :(
