trollboy Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Well, thanks to OSCommerce, we're doing great. We just bought a dedicated colo box as opposed to the vhost we had, and are installing 2.2. Here's the problem. We where running 2.1 before, and once the new box is 100%, we intend to move everything over (repointing dns, and putting up a redirect on the old site to the new sites's ip) however.. I noticed that the db formats are different. How different? Is there a external way I can convert the db to have something to play with, and then turn around and drop it and reconvert the day of? That's really a major bummer for me. Any help would be appreciated and thanks for a great product!!
ixon Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Isn't there an upgrade option which imports the old database?
trollboy Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 yes, but we're looking for 0 downtime, we've done alot of hand customization and module adding of oscommerce. We'll need a few days to get the new shop set up. It only autoconverts on install so far as I can tell..

Why not just do an installation of 2.2 on some dev space... make sure it is running fine - do a dump of the converted db from that and do a manual installation to your server - it takes very little time to configure osCommerce by hand if you know what you are doing :D Matti
trollboy Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 that's exactly what I intend to do, but I need to have a way to convert the DB over with using the installer.
