dponjp Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Test e-commerce site I just downloaded the software and set up a test site using the sample database. I'm so new to this it is scary, but I like the features of this software more than the $125 versions out there... When I browse to the logon page, I get the following error: Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /www/d/dponjp/htdocs/pondwear/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. the rights on configure.php is rw-r-r. Any suggestions or experiences on securing the software (ie - only I can get to the admin link, no security warnings etc?) Thanks! DP
241 Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 you need to chmod the configure.php files in catalog/includes and admin/includes this is done using an ftp program. with the files uploaded to your server or webspace point the ftp program to the webspace select the file right click on it and a sub menu will appear, in this sub menu is properties, click on properties and set the boxes to read only this is chmod 444 alternative is chmod 644 no executes but read write for owner. chmod 644 is what you are saying they are set to so change to 444 and see if this gets rid of the warnings. personally I had my files at 644 and still got the warnings so changed to 444 and this resolved the issue.
