daisuke Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Hi everyone! :D Check out my store - http://www.J-hobby.net, specializing in Japanese toys and hobbies! I just finished setting up and running my store for 5 months now! Comments, feedback, and constructive criticisms welcome! Thanks!
daisuke Posted December 14, 2003 Author Posted December 14, 2003 bump! Please! I need someone to critique my store!
♥MYC267 Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 I had a quick look and it looks ok.... it's a different lookng shop. I am glad to see you have made a lot of visual changes. Looks like theres quite a few mods as well. Good luck! Dan
burt Posted December 14, 2003 Posted December 14, 2003 Looks different to normal Oscommerce colours/style. But the layout is boring. It doesn't look professional enough to make me want to purchase from you.
daisuke Posted January 19, 2004 Author Posted January 19, 2004 Thank you guys for your criticisms! I will redo the design right now and I'll keep you updated on my progress!
daisuke Posted January 19, 2004 Author Posted January 19, 2004 I'm going to redo the site from day one since the only way to get things done right is to start back from the beginning. Which contributions do you suggest? Should I use the Basic Template Structure v0.9?
eric_jbdotcom Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 no. use STS template system. works like a charm
daisuke Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 I just installed BTS and I looked through the templating scheme and it's quite easy to customize your osC look from one main template file. Is that the same feature offered in STS? Thank you for your help!
daisuke Posted February 4, 2004 Author Posted February 4, 2004 http://j-hobby.net/dev/ Ok, I've put together a new layout for the store! What do you guys think?
lostinosc Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 I assume you're talking about what's at the top of the page. I love the new design! Very nicely done. What is this template deal you're talking about? Forgive me....I'm a newbie.
TerryK Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 I really like the colors and layout, but I think you need to change the lettering in your logo and links. The 'b's in your main logo of "J-hobby.net" look like lower-case a's to me. If I didn't know what the site was by the URL, I'd have trouble figuring out what your company name was. I found some of the other links hard to read too, especially 'Cart' (one of the most critical ones!) 'Sign In,' 'Shop' and 'Gallery.' HTH, Terry Terry Kluytmans Contribs Installed: Purchase Without Account (PWA); Big Images, Product Availability, Description in Product Listing, Graphical Infobox, Header Tags Controller, Login Box, Option Type Feature, plus many layout changes & other mods of my own, like: Add order total to checkout_shipment Add order total to checkout_payment Add radio buttons at checkout_shipping (for backorder options, etc.) Duplicate Table Rate Shipping Module Better Product Review Flow * If at first you don't succeed, find out if there's a prize for the loser. *
daisuke Posted February 5, 2004 Author Posted February 5, 2004 Yeah, I had a design issue with the font 'warmachine' and now I'm moving towards using text for the links on the top and switching out the font for the 'J-Hobby.net' logo.
Chance Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 Your site washes out in my eyes- you might want to have a contrast color to all that blue. Of course, I suck at graphics and layout myself, so you can probably just ignore me. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Guest Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 I thing that Chance is actually right... a nice complementary color or something to contrast the blue would help. There is nothing wrong with using just blue in the site just remember the rule, only use 3 shades of blue on one page or it gets messy and grapically unappealing. Of course you could ignore me too. though I have been working with grapics and studio art for quite a while. Just my opinion though. Overall a nice site and with a few touched could be a great site. good luck
daisuke Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 thanks, jeclyptiq and chance for your feedbacks. I'll probably take off the graphic and make it a flat pastel blue color.
daisuke Posted February 8, 2004 Author Posted February 8, 2004 I assume you're talking about what's at the top of the page. I love the new design! Very nicely done. What is this template deal you're talking about? Forgive me....I'm a newbie. Do you mean the BTS?
lostinosc Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I'm not sure what BTS is. After doing some searching I see that you can use something called STS but I'm lost as to how to use it.
daisuke Posted February 11, 2004 Author Posted February 11, 2004 It's basically a standardized template you use to modify the look of your osCommerce website quickly and easily.
daisuke Posted February 14, 2004 Author Posted February 14, 2004 Ok, this is the final revision of JHobby.net! Enjoy! http://www.jhobby.net/dev
