splbound Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Hi...a couple of really frustrating things are happening. First, I have front page extensions on my site. As I am setting up the OS files and trying to protect the folders, it refers me to the front page extensions admin panel to do this, and wont let me complete this action thru the MySQL panel, with no instructions to accomplish this.... Also I am getting a message in the SQL panel as follows: NOTE: The following .htaccess files present in the document root do not appear to be created by Frontpage. /var/www/html/catalog/admin/.htaccess /var/www/html/catalog/download/.htaccess /var/www/html/catalog/includes/.htaccess /var/www/html/catalog/pub/.htaccess These files may enforce a security model different from that of Frontpage. Please remove these .htaccess files only if you experience authentication errors while browsing these directories via. the web Anyone able to assist me in these areas? Thanks so much
Guest Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 I'm not that familiar with frontpage and how it does .htaccess files as I view frontpage (like several others) as a huge security risk. here's a thought though... add an .htaccess file to some other directory that's not invovled with osc. edit the file to see if frontpage puts some sort of header in it. copy the header information into the ones you created for osc (but change directory paths etc if applicable). just a thought.
FLIBIU Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Hello Micheal, Did you ever figure out how to protect the folders? I'm new to this as well and I am in the exact same confusing spot. It's like you said there are no instructions for the FrontPage extensions admin panel. Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Randal
