Guest Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 I'm new to oscommerce and what it can offer. After looking at a few oscommerce powered sites, and demo's, i see that most site layouts are simliar. You have you usualy right and left column with many products listed on the sides, and then your main center area has the main content, with more products below. This seems a little too cluttered for our project idea. I am looking for a shopping cart solution for our company, that sells clothing and would like a more retail/fashion-like appearance. Something along the lines of guess.com / birks.com . Our layout is simliar, in that not much content is displayed and the user will need to navigate to find their items. the main pages are more of a showcase of what we offer. Our site layout does not take the full screen (roughly 750 x 450). Can oscommerce accomodate this? A simple design with less technical links, and more of a product showcase. I plan to download the demo and try it out myself, but i though i'd check with the community first. Thanks alot! mangohead
Noobish-n-stuff Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 First, OSC does not have a demo. it is open source, so it is free. Second, yes many OSC sites look alike, but they really don't have too. take a look at www.soccergrips.com, i'm sure it is more of what you are looking for. OSC is a VERY customizable e-commerce solution. everyday i use it i learn something new or find a way to improve my site. i've learned that if OSC doesn't do what you want it to do, you make it do it! if your really wanted to, you could have no columns at all and have a header and footer only. once you get a chance to play with it a little, you'll see what i mean. good luck!
