Hi all need some advice. I am wanting to add a few custom links to the categories box. I am using the admin portion to add product categories now. But these are used for actual products. I want to add like a "service" link where I am not actually selling a product but a service. It needs to be just an html page but I want to list it in the categories section. I have just 2 links to add. Is there an easy way to do this?...maybe a contribution that would help me? I have info pages installed. But I dont this this will work because I want to list these "services" not "products" in the categories list not the information list(about us...contact us etc)

Thanks,

Tom

If I understand you right, you still have products, which are services for sale or subscription. If so, it's easy to do it just like listing regular products: in Admin, Catalog, set a category called "service", then open that category and add new product, set the product name as something like "web site hosting" and set the price and put your detailed "service description" in the box for "product description" (you can put any html or php code you want there), and then set a model number for your service code and put up some image to show your service if you like ... add it and you have your service product listed under your service category ... it can be checkout (subscribed) by paying the service price.

Hope this help

fiat707 probably listed the easiest way of doing what you want. i looked into trying to do it a couple of other ways, but it's just too complicated for what you get. Besides, if you are like me and they have to send you something for you to work on (service), they will see it listed on your website and probably not try to purchase it there, but they will contact you personally and figure out payment then.

atleast thats been my experience...
