Help with Simple Category List

Hi,

 

I trying to put togetther my site with oscommerce and would like to change the category list so it only shows the top categoryies in a more of a button style.

 

I need help to simplify the script to only show the top level categories, if anyone can help, please let me know.

 

i want to do something simillar to the current basic site i have at www.hiwaycraft.co.uk with the craft categories listing.
