ama Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Oka I get that I need to gut the default text under ('TEXT_MAIN','blah,blah,blah'); I just do not get where to go to get to ('TEXT_MAIN','blah,blah,blah') . Do I go to File Manager and if so what catagory. I cannot find it there. If I can just find where I am suppose to go to get this file to edit I can do it but finding where to go seems to be my prob. Thanks Thank You, Bevery G.
ama Posted December 8, 2003 Author Posted December 8, 2003 The message I keep getting when I click on the files under File Manager is this. Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/ama/public_html/oscommerce/includes/languages/english/index.php  Thank You, Bevery G.
Guest Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 This is the document for changing text I dont recommend doing it with the file manager because window and php dont get along to well Download the files you need to change from sever to your computer and use a php editing software (i use phpedit) or use notepad and when done upload back on your server HTH The_Bear

Guest Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I am probably too new to the forum to be giving advice but I can share something that helped me not loose (again) the original contents of a file. Whenever I want to change a file I first copy its contents into notepad as a "backup". I don't necessarily save the notepad file but it is just there incase I really mess up. I then make the edits in another notepad file or some other software and upload the change. I only make one change at a time. If it works I then copy the new contents to the notepad "backup file" and make the next change in the other software. I don't know if this is the best way to help prevent having to get code from someone or completely re-installing your catalog, but it works for me.
jpf Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 What's on line 17? Did you escape all ' like it\'s, wouldn\'t, Stacy\'s Make sure you don't have any blank lines or space at the top/bottom of the file. Use a text editor (nothing that is MS - too much headacks - tend to add a extra blank line to all files - and does not like Unix style text files) suggestions like NoteTab (freeware) or UltraEdit or phpedit. Good luck
