PHP Version help

Locust

Recommended Posts

I have php version 4.3.1 installed and running an oscommerce store.

I have seen that the php version is now at version 4.3.4 and is advised by the php creators to upgrade asap to this version.

Does anybody here know if we will get into trouble with our live store if we do upgrade to version 4.3.4 or does it not matter what kind of version is installed for the osc software to work [especially in a live shop]

And what would the right steps be if it is possible to upgrade?

I don't know much about php and the relation between oscommerce that's why it may be a stupid question, but i just thought i'd give it a try :

This is the same question I have as well. I was just notified that my System Administrator he has a new box coming in and wants to install the latest PHP (4.3.4) on it, and move my site over to it, but he is waiting to see if I agree to it. Anyone know if this is a wise move or not?

My site is currently using PHP 4.1.2. I found that I was having a problem with session id's that go from non-ssl to SSL. The session id got lost, so the contents of the shopping cart emptied out. Not a good way to make a sale! :( I poured over the forums regarding this problem, but one thing seemed to be consistent, upgrading PHP to version 4.3.2 seemed to resolve this problem.

But instead of upgrading, I had to turn off a bunch of session ID settings in the Admin since my System Admin was reluctant to upgrade at that time. Would the upgrade to PHP 4.3.4 still fix this particular problem?

Hmmm , is there actually nobody out there who can answer this question?

Can this be the hardest question ever for the people who can write the most complicated codes or are we in some sort of invisible area which only the both of us can see for some strange reason .....HELLO, anybody out there
