Exhibits Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Hi - With a little trouble, I finally figured out how to FTP oscommerce-2.2ms2 to my webserver. B) Once I did so, I clicked on the oscommerce-2.2ms2 to have it start-up, but all that happens is that WINZIP opens all the files and I get stuck there. I've gone to WIKI for directions on how to get started but I can't get beyond having just oscommerce-2.2ms2 show on my webserver. Please help - what should I be doing to install oscommerce? INSTALL Directions from WIKI: Upload the /catalog/admin directories to your server using FTP to upload files. All PHP files must be uploaded in ASCII mode, and not binary. The structure of the oscommerce is: oscommerce-2.2ms2 catalog / admin extras _______________________________________________________________ Is there anyone who has experience setting up ecommerce sites that might be willing to assist me in getting started???
chfields Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 You shouldn't ask the same question in different forums, once is enough
andlinux21 Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Why didnt you just unzip everything on your computer then up the folders and files that you needed to your host? In A World Without Walls Who Needs Windows
Exhibits Posted December 7, 2003 Author Posted December 7, 2003 I have unzipped all the files, but then can't copy or upload any specific files. Someone told me to download osCommerce to my hard drive, and FTP that to my Webserver. After doing that it is still not installing. (Sorry for posting to the wrong forum the 1st time)
chfields Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 You should have a folder in your root called catalog...do you have that?
Exhibits Posted December 7, 2003 Author Posted December 7, 2003 No there is no folder called catalog in the root. The folders in the root are: mail, public_ftp, public_html, tmp, www, oscommerce-2.2ms2.lnk, PLUS the download version of oscommerce-2.2ms2.lnk the download version of oscommerce-2.2ms2.lnk needs to be unzipped. When that is unzipped, it does not create a folder called catalog - just shows the entire listing of files. Why is the folder called catalog not being created?
chfields Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Ok, You need to delete everything after tmp. Then when you unzip the program on your hard drive, you should see a folder called catalog. You need to FTP that into your public_html folder in your root. Then you go to www.yoursite.com/catalog/install
