style Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 How is the download feature supposed to work? i would like to enable the download feature but cannot find any instructions on how to do so or even how it suppose to function. what i want to do is allow people to purchase mp3s. after they pay, i assume when the administrator changes the order status to "delivered", either the email they receive has a link to the download file or somewhere in their account they can access a link to the file. can someone please provide a detailed list of steps on how it can be done? this is what i've done so far trying to figure out how it works: 1.) i've set in the DOWNLOAD section of CONFIGURATION, Enable Download = true and Download by Direct = true (whatever this one means, i'm on a UNIX server so i think it's ok). 2.) i placed an mp3 file named test.mp3 in the Shop/Download directory 3.) then in PRODUCTS ATTRIBUTES section, i chose the product and in the Filename text box i entered the word test.mp3 there and then click the Insert button. now after i purchase the product in the shopping cart, i get an email saying my order is "pending". i go to the admin section and change the order to "delivered" and i get the email saying my status is delivered but that's it. how is someone supposed to know where to get the download from? am i missing something? thanx.
arthomas73x Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 there should be a link at the bottom of the checkout_success page beneath.. "Download your products here:" I suggest changing the page to make it more prominent.
