dougnyc Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 I setup a Web Tools account w/ USPS. I called them to put me on the production server. (The cause of most ppls problems) I added my l/p. But I still get this when I go to checkout: United States Postal Service? An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations. If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner. Any ideas?

Reb Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 I have the same problem, same error as above on both the USPS and UPS modules. The modules on my local copy of ms2 work just fine, so there must be a problem with my web host server. They run some flavor of Linux, but I don't know what to tell them to look for. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks John

networkdad Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Yes, same here. I only offer USPS to APO/FPO, and this just started occurring in the past few days. I've edited the module to send me errors to my email, but im not receiving any. I'm checking the USPS website to see if any changes in their API have been made recently..but who knows. If anyone else comes up with a solution, please post.!

I have just received my email from them for the test server (don't want to go production yet) and it contained the following URL: http://testing.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPITest.dll Now, I'm getting the same errors as everyone else so I thought I'd check the php files to see if this URL is the same in the config, but I can't find it... By the way, when going to the URL manually, I get 404 Page Not Found errors... So, maybe USPS went out of business?

This is definently an issue on their server if we cant even ping/http,etc to it.

NeoTrace results: Destination Net Unreachable100% Dropped/Lost packets I dunno about them going out of business either... Took them 4 days to send an envelope across town not to long ago... /me thinks they've gone back to PonyExpress!
Guest Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 I have just confirmed with the USPS that both the test and production API servers are down and have been since sometime Friday. They do not have a solid ETA on bringing the servers back up but I was told it would most likely be within 2 hours to 2 days. I know this is a wide range and it does suck that this had to happen on a weekend but it's good to know they are now aware of the issue and working towards resolution. Their phone support number is 1-800-344-7779, option #3. They are open every day surprisingly. :D

trippy Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 I set up my username/password tonight. I'm using the latest version of oscommerce I think you can download. Got USPS to allow me into production. I am still getting errors. Does it just take a while for you to REALLY get online? vs. just getting the email? I looked at the module code and it says "usps.php,v 1.47" is that really the latest version? Is the USPS still down?
