dvduval Posted December 5, 2003 Posted December 5, 2003 As I try to sell the idea of switching to OSCommerce to my company, I was hoping to find some examples of multi-million dollar companies that are usind OSCommerce. I looked under live shops and featured shops and I really didn't find any "household names". I am thinking about using OsCommerce on the largest "dance shoes" site on the net. I would feel a little more comfortable knowing there are sites even bigger than mine including some recognized names.
jrwrestling Posted December 5, 2003 Posted December 5, 2003 Most "recognized names" will pay to have their own store crafted. I know there are handful of sites that do around 1 million in sales through osC though.
dvduval Posted December 5, 2003 Author Posted December 5, 2003 It would be great if I could see such a store in action (one that does $1 million). My store is not far from that number. And yes...I'm trying to decide between a custom solution and OSCommerce.
dreamscape Posted December 5, 2003 Posted December 5, 2003 your very large companies have alot of money backing them, so they will usually do things that us smaller companies do not have the luxury of doing. Like they will use databases such as MS SQL, or probably more common Oracle. And for scripting preference, they usually can afford to hire a team to put together a customer solution, most commonly you see using Cold Fusion, Java (JSP), Active Server Pages (ASP) or something like that. Our store is a Health food store we rank # 1 and #2 on over 300 search terms. last year we $4.7M we use stock osc code. no changes at all.. we kept it that way for a reason. I will pm you the link... do not want to spam on the boards. <span style='font-family:Courier'>If you can't fix it Perl it!!!...</span> ******************************
Yikes! Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 How 'bout Paul Harris? they are a women's clothing store...used to be all brick n morter ( they were in just about every mall in the US) now paulharris.com nice looking site too. I bet they do over a million easy. Mike
dvduval Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Yes, I help run a couple of stores that do $1-5 million range, but that is not really all that large when you think about it, as this can easily be less than 30 orders per day. You figure to do $1 million you need less than $3000 per day. Are there any stored getting a few hundred orders per day?

We've rewritten a lot of the backend to cope. When I get the chance I *WILL* package this up. Capital Gardens
