Sort order in default.php

Hi all,

 

I would like to change the sort order ( by model name ) in which the products are displayed in a way that article AB0300 comes before article AB0001.

 

In such a way I ensure that last added articles (novelties ) come before old ones.

 

Any ideas ?

Hey Franco, Where did you get the file "default.php" (it seems to be from an old osC version)? I don't see it anywhere in my Catalog folder or sub-folder! I too need to change the displaying order of products I add into my store. Hope someone here can help.

Yes, Default.php is the same as Index.php. I have an older version.

 

To change the displaying order i modified my default.php about line 226 in my version from:

if ( (!$HTTP_GET_VARS['sort']) || (!ereg('[1-8][ad]', $HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'])) || (substr($HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'],0,1) > sizeof($column_list)) ) {
     for ($col=0; $col<sizeof($column_list); $col++) {
       if ($column_list[$col] == 'PRODUCT_LIST_NAME') {
         $HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'] = $col+1 . 'a';
         $listing_sql .= " order by pd.products_name";
         break;
       }
     }

 

to this one :

if ( (!$HTTP_GET_VARS['sort']) || (!ereg('[1-8][ad]', $HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'])) || (substr($HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'],0,1) > sizeof($column_list)) ) {
     for ($col=0; $col<sizeof($column_list); $col++) {
       if ($column_list[$col] == 'PRODUCT_LIST_NAME') {
         $HTTP_GET_VARS['sort'] = $col+1 . 'd';
         $listing_sql .= " order by pd.products_name desc";
         break;
       }
     }

and that's it...
