mbravo Posted December 5, 2003 Posted December 5, 2003 Hello, I am new here so please do direct me to any existing sources of replies to my questions, in case I failed to turn them up myself with search. My questions are rather generic, I'm afraid. What I want to do is to build a webshop of the usual items - books/films/movies. Memberhsip-based discount, perhaps. All of this is almost readily available with oscommerce (or so I gather). However, I would like to make the content about the items to be central, and the items themselves consequential. Kinda like IMDB - you search for a movie, or an actor, read all you want, and then you are able to choose that movie in various saleable forms - DVD, VHS, etc. Is something like this possible, and in what direction should I look? And the second (maybe nontrivial) thing that I want to implement is that I want to give my suppliers partial control over inventory, so they could mark availability, change pricing in allowed categories (well, costs, actually), and over shipping/delivery statuses. So a supplier could log in, see the orders for items that are coming from him, ship the orders and mark the status. Same question - is this possible with a ready-made feature, or a known contribution, or will it need to be custom-coded? If the latter, is the oscommerce infrastructure flexible enough to build such a scheme or this would require major effort? Thanks a lot in advance for your advice
