About 1 out of 20 transactions lately I get the following email from authorize.net:

Subject:  Transaction Error Notification

From:  "Authorize.Net" <[email protected]>

Date:  Thu, December 4, 2003 1:17 pm

To:  [email protected]

Priority:  Normal

Options:  View Full Header |  View Printable Version

**Please DO NOT REPLY to this message. E-mail [email protected] if you

have any questions.

Authorize.Net Merchant,

Your script timed out while we were trying to post transaction results to

it.

  Transaction ID: 509831089

Transaction Result: This transaction has been approved.

The following message was displayed to the customer:

------------------------------An error occurred while trying to report

this transaction to the Merchant. An e-mail has been sent to the merchant

informing them of the error. The following is the result of the attempt to

charge your credit card.

This transaction has been approved.

It is advisable for you to contact the merchant to verify that you will

receive the product or service.

------------------------------

What causes that?

Server isn't heavily loaded down or anything...

0.05 load average...

Server specs:

Quad (4) 1.8ghz xeon processors

4GB ram

15krpm ultra 160 drives

running osCommerce 2.2-MS2 on redhat7.3

Anyone have any ideas?

osCommerce takes more than 10 seconds to respond to Authorize.net during checkout on many occasions, which causes Authorize.net to mark it as a time out. I am still looking for how to fix this...

When you guys run into the timed-out problem, is that specific transaction listed in under the "Unsettled Transactions" log of your Authorize.net account?

Thanks
