MungerMan
HI, I am new to this and this is my first post. I am trying to install the osCommerce and when i get to step 7, and enter the database server, name, password, etc., the next page spits out this error message: The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set. Please perform the following actions: * cd /home2/homeschooltradin/www/catalog/includes/ * touch configure.php * chmod 706 configure.php * cd /home2/homeschooltradin/www/catalog/admin/includes/ * touch configure.php * chmod 706 configure.php If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777. If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created. What does this mean? How do I solve it and continue the installation process? thanks so very much for any help you can give. Sincerely, MungerMan :(
241
Do you have a database configured? Are the file permissions for the two files set as : user - read, write, execute anyone - read, write this gives chmod 706 No longer giving free advice. Please place deposit in meter slot provided. Individual: [=] SME: [==] Corporation: [===] If deposit does not fit one of the slots provided then you are asking too much! Is your Osc dated try Phoenix raising oscommerce from the ashes. Guest
Before you start your installation you have to chmod both catalog and admin/includes/configure.php to 777 so the install can write to these files After installation is complete, chmod them back to 644 HTH The_Bear
