shoppingcart Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I don't know if oscommerce allow to change this line "Copyrights © 2003 osCommerce" Powered by osCommerce What I want is "Copyrights © 2003 MyStore" Powered by osCommerce if this is allowed... then please anyone can help me. very appreciated.. jpf Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 See osCommerce Copyright Announcements: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/faq,26/q,50 If the osCommerce copyright announcement is removed from the Administration Tool, or is inappropriately modified, a Copyright and GPL violation has occured. The osCommerce copyright announcement displayed on the Catalog module of osCommerce can, however, be modified, and even removed, if the layout of the site theme has been modified to distinguish itself from the default osCommerce-copyrighted theme. Also You CAN ADD - to the copywrite - just below it. ie: Layout by XYZ Design Parts copywrite ABC Software Inc. Customized by L. Plate and Company etc. Good luck.
shoppingcart Posted December 8, 2003 Author Posted December 8, 2003 hello jpf, Can you tell me what part of the .PHP file should I change? Thanks and best regards, rex
Guest Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 You can easily change the Copyright notice in includes/languages/english.php (or whichever language is appropriate to your shop). You want to modify the FOOTER_TEXT_BODY define. Good luck!
peterr Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 Hi, The osCommerce copyright announcement displayed on the Catalog module of osCommerce can, however, be modified, and even removed, if the layout of the site theme has been modified to distinguish itself from the default osCommerce-copyrighted theme. I'm trying to understand this, so please excuse my ignorance. Some questions to clarify what constitutes a "modification". All the questions are to do with the Catalog module. 1. The quote mentions theme as distinct from template ?? 2. Would a colour change (via std osC stylesheet) constitute a 'modification distinction' ? 3. Considering that the use of an osC 'template' contribution still carries an osC copyright notice (I think it does), then would the use of such a template (BTS , STS,etc) contribution, be sufficient grounds for modifying or removal of the osC copyright notice on the Catalog module 4. Would a (very) minor change to the std osC layout/theme constitute grounds for "modification" (e.g. I'm using languages to control 3 domains on one website, and need to remove the language 'box' ).. I actually don't want to remove it totally (credit given where credit is due, and osC is a great product), only modify the copyright notice, leave the "Powered by ... link line, and remove the osC logo at the bottom. But I'd like to know what exactly constitutes sufficient grounds to establish the fact that the distinction qualifies. Thanks, :) Peter
azziman Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 i think it means that simply not changing the colour gives u premission to remove the text. u have to make - 'considerable' changes to the layout i.e. bg images, colour changes, structure, etc. hope that help :D
peterr Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 Hi, i think it means that simply not changing the colour gives u premission to remove the text. ... not changing the colour, don't you mean changing the colour ? u have to make - 'considerable' changes to the layout i.e. bg images, colour changes, structure, etc. There would need to be a definitive statement from osCommerce developers or 'admin' people, as to what constitues 'change'. Peter
Guest Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 The store graphics are obviously copyright to osCommerce, as is the default layout. Matti
