Setting up password and username in admin

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am looking for some advise on how i can set up a security login for my admin so that you have to add a username and password before it lets you log in.

I am new to oscommerce and needs some one to point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Holy crap I swear this question comes up 3 times a day. Search the forums. Search google for .htaccess if you are on a linux or unix host. This topic has been covered probably hundreds of times.

Search engines are your friends.

Fixing what?

Password protecting directory is not part of default osc

Most Hosting provider has some sort of CPanel for their users and it can be done thruw there

up4anything,

It all depends on your philosophy. If you want everything to be easily accessable through a clickable menu, OsC is probably not the cart for you. I personally believe that admin security should not be a part of the cart, and should reside elsewhere. Security with apache is a piece of cake, and would be easy for you to learn.

In my opinion, there is nothing to fix, just things for you to learn.

I find this forum to be the biggest helpful source to osC newbies out there.

But, if you're new to Linux and can't even cd, or cp files in it, please don't come and toil with osC, and post can't get the mySQl server to get it working, stuck at step 2 of the installation, or how to setup the admin pw. Go back to a windows environment if you're can't handle this! Or else get pay and get it installed you cheapos!

And most of all, SEARCH, SEARCH, SEARCH and do your god damn homework before asking qestions and wasting otther peep's typing time!!!!!!
