image in footer.php

Hey yall. OK, I admit that I am no programmer by any means, however I've been publishing Web documents for almost eight(8) years. I consider myself more of an artist than anything. I am not all that familiar with PHP evidently, so I'm asking someone with more experience than I have to take a shot at answering the following Q. >> <p>After successfully modifying color values in the css file, I felt confident enough to revamp the header.php file to go along with the theme of the portal document. (hey, it worked. great!) At some point after this, I decide to drop a hot .GIF in the footer(.php)...NOW, everything seemed OK until I refreshed the document to check it out. Huge mistake, the image I clearly defined in the lower part of the footer.php file boldly appears at the top of the page as well, so it's as if I have the big image on the bottom of the page while it appears at the top of the page as well... Before I edited the footer.php file, I did copy it remotely and rename the copy to footer_backup.php. When I use this instead, it still calls for the image even though it isn't written in the document itself. As a last resort I will upload a 1x1 . transparent GIF in replace of the broken image gap at the top of the page. I uploaded the .php file in binary mode, and have made certain there are no blank spaces after the last ?> as I've heard that sometimes throws things off(?). Have you ever heard of this before? Help? Hello? Hey! 8)
