JonoB
Hi, I posted my store on this forum about a month ago, which was a very naive first go at osCommerce. I have made a few mods to my site since then....and hope that it looks better. I have intentionally kept the design simple and clean, and it should load fast as well. It still has an osCommerce feel to it, no doubt about that, but its not bog stock and I am still interested in your comments, good or bad. Based on the number of hits that my site has been generating, I am slightly dissapointed that I have not made more sales. I suspect that one of the reasons is that I need to increase the catalog size, but that will come.... Most importantly, I am interested in your opinion on whether you would buy from this site if you were looking for these goods. If not, why not? PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SITE IS LIVE http://www.myphotoframe.co.uk
JonoB
Oh, and I know that my logo needs work... :(
jello1
Well... to be honest with you... it's boring. needs somthing. I would not buy from it because it looks "fly by night". you need a different layout if you cat size is so small. i would deff do somthing different. have you look at BTS templating system?. I use it because my site is also small and needed some kind of different layout. click on the "www" link below to see what i mean. it's just a test site that i'm working on. but you can get the feel of BTS. But i would change the colors and add a bit more graphics to make the site a little more robust. it just plain.... needs a little work and you might have somthing there... JonoB
I appreciate the honesty Jello... I did want to keep things simple, but your point is well taken....I may have underdone things a bit too much....will look into spicing things up a bit
Pharkie
Jono - sort your logo out! This is a live store with that at the top? heh. Apart from that - does your target audience like Britney Spears as much as you do? The photography of your products needs to be much better - clearer, brighter, better composed. The store itself I agree is boring. When you're working on it, think 'is this compelling people to do what I want them to do?', which is firstly click around, then buy. Your home page needs some nice product photography too, and some feature-boxes. A load of text won't get read. It's not all bad - there's some merit here. I think you need to step back and have a hard think about your shop before you see decent sales, I'm afraid. Good luck with it! :)
jello1
May i suggest..... dig into the stylesheet... you can wonders with it. your on the right track but the colors really need to change. they clash... as to the pictures.. yes they need some work. but if your store is easy on the eyes you should see a improvment in sales... but I take a deep long look at the stylesheet.... look at the site. I did this for a client and it's 90% in the stylesheet... http://www.safekicks.com good luck and i look forward to seeing the improved site soon!!.. take care, <span style='font-family:Courier'>If you can't fix it Perl it!!!...</span> ******************************
JonoB
Lol, yeah that Britney Spears photo - the damn frames come with those photos already in them, and the manufacturer's sent them to me like that! Some digital editing has already been penned on my "To do" list!!
